(? -----1536)
Born: Moos in the Puster Valley (South Tyrol)
It is known that he was a hat maker, so it is possible his father was as well. (In those days, sons often learned the trade of their father.)
In 1529, he joined a Tyrol Anabaptist group, chose to be baptized, and was picked as a minister. While still in Tyrol, Jacob joined an Anabaptist group led by Jacob Wiederman.
Jacob went on to become leader of a group in Moravia. In May of 1535, he married Katherine Purst. They had little time together. By November of 1535, Jacob was arrested and jailed, for his religious convictions. February 25, 1536, Jacob was burned for heresy. Two years later his wife, Katherine was also executed.
